At Urias Law Offices, business attorney Sharon Urias has returned to her native state of Arizona to establish her own law firm in Scottsdale.  After 12 years of practice, including nearly 8 years at the Los Angeles office of the international firm Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner, where she was a partner, she has decided to serve clients in the Phoenix metropolitan community.

Sharon Urias graduated from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1995, where she was a Note and Comment Editor of the school's prestigious Loyola Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and English from Tufts University in 1992. She currently is an active member of the Arizona and California State Bars. She also is an active member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).

•· Obtained reversal by the California Court of Appeal of a $60.7 million judgment in a complicated medical malpractice case reported in the Daily Journal's Verdicts and Settlement section to be the second largest jury verdict of its year and the only one overturned on appeal.

•· Obtained successful result in an international arbitration before a bilingual arbitration panel involving the joint venture of a cellular telephone system in Central America.

•· Won at trial on all issues in a real estate fraud case and obtained an award of attorneys' fees and costs.

•· Successfully defended trademark infringement/unfair competition case brought by a prominent local chef in Louisiana against food manufacturer client, winning key jurisdictional motions, which allowed the negotiation of a favorable settlement.

•· Won motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction on behalf of Sri Lankan and Pakistani cellular telephone companies, thus avoiding a $30 million misappropriation of trade secrets case.

•· Successfully handled appeal for client hit with a $1 million arbitration award despite significant and extensive adverse case law.

•· Set aside default judgment in trial court on behalf of defendant insurance company and successfully defended appeal from the order granting default judgment.

•· Won motion for dismissal sanction in federal court case based on plaintiff's failure to cooperate in discovery.

•· Won successive motions to quash service of summons on behalf of Danish motion picture distribution company based on plaintiff's failure to comply with the Hague Convention, causing plaintiff to dismiss the lawsuit.

•· Assisted publishing company client in recovering stolen domain name in trademark infringement case.

•· Obtained arbitration award in bad faith action against insurance company, including recovery of attorneys' fees.
